MATILDE " M. R." GARCIA

Matilde "M. R." Garcia, 79, of San Angelo passed away Thursday February 28, 2008 at a local nursing home. Rosary will be 6:00 PM Sunday March 2, 2008 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM Monday March 3, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Joe Choutapalli, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. M. R. was born March 14, 1928 in El Dorado, TX. to Alvino and Jesusita Rivero Garcia. He worked at Southwest Aircraft as a mechanic for many years and at Angelo State University as a groundskeeper until he retired. He married Maria Alvrado in Eldorado on December 12, 1951. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and loved sharing his gift of music as a member of the Spanish choir for many years. M. R. is preceded in death by his parents and by eight brothers and two sisters and one granddaughter, Carey Holmes. He is survived by his wife, Maria A. Garcia of San Angelo; three sons, Trinidad Garcia and his wife, Blenda of San Angelo, Carlos Garcia and his wife, Marcy of Grand Prairie, TX and Alex Garcia and his wife, Chris of San Angelo; one daughter, Carmen Cabarubio and Jerry Ortiz; one sister, Santiaga Chavez and Callo of San Angelo and one brother, Lupito Garcia and his wife, Luteria of Killeen; Grandchildren are Gena English and her husband, John of Euless, Stacey Cortez and her husband, Marcus of San Angelo, Gary Garcia serving his country in South Carolina, Esteban Garcia of Austin, Leah Cabarubio and fiancé, Carlos Frias of Ft. Worth, Matthew Garcia of San Angelo, Caroline Garcia serving her country in Germany, Stephanie Garcia of Grand Prairie and Ailiana Cabarubio and Frankie Flores of San Angelo; and 9 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Marcus Cortez, Esteban Garcia, Matthew Garcia, Edward Martinez, David Garcia, Freddie Chavez and Gary Garica The family wishes to thank Hospice of San Angelo and the staff of Legend Oaks nursing home.
