MAURICE E. VALIS

Maurice E. Valis, 67, of San Angelo, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2005 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 14, 2005 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Rev. Bob Stine, nephew, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Maurice was born February 20, 1937 in Eldorado, TX, to Frank and Clara Valis. He married Liz Lindley September 9, 1955 in San Angelo. He worked for Modern Way Grocery as an assistant manager, Foremost Dairies in Odessa, then 22 years as general manager of 4C Distributing Company. He finished his career as a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service before retirement. He was preceded in death by his father Frank Valis and a sister, Dorothy Krieger. He is survived by his wife, Liz Valis of San Angelo; daughters,Cindy Rogers and husband, Don of Midland; Kathy Williams of San Angelo and Sherri Wolff of the Woodlands, TX,; mother, Clara Valis of Lockhart, TX,; brother, Martin Valis and wife, Lil of San Angelo and Mother-in-law; Bernice Newberry of San Angelo, Grandchildren; Julia Baker, Chelsea Williams, Whitney Sawyer, Craig Wolff, Camron Wolff, Tyler Rogers, Great-granddaughter; Michaela Baker and numerous family members. Pallbearers will be Daniel Vrabel, John Rufenacht, Harvey Fuchs, Bill Stephenson, Steve Stephenson and John Frock. Honorary pallbearer is Joe Black. The Family wishes to Thank Dr. Dawn Gonzales and the staff and nurses of Angelo Community Hospital for the loving care and attention shown to Maurice.
