MERLE SMITH GANOE

On Tuesday, February 15, 2005 the Angels in Heaven rejoiced at the homecoming of Merle Smith Ganoe. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 19, 2005 at the Hico Cemetery in Hico, TX with Mike Martin of Spring Creek Baptist Church in Weatherford officiating. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Merle was born May 11, 1901 in Sherman, TX to Eugene and Nettie Smith. Merle was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Stephenville for numerous years. She was an organizing member and Past Regent of the Teha Lanna Chapter of DAR and Bosque River Chapter of DRT. Merle was an outstanding woman with a heart of gold. She lived a life of Christian love, which gave her strength to endure any trial or tribulations. Her memory will be forever in the hearts of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Nettie Smith, two brothers, one sister and three grandchildren. Survivors are: Sons:Henry "Pete" Ganoe and wife, Peggy Of San Angelo Norman R. Ganoe and wife, Mildred Of Weatherford Frank E. Ganoe Of Calgary, Alberta, Canada Daughters:Nettie Harp Of San Angelo Jacqueline Smith Of Atwater, CA Sue Simmons Of Henderson, TX Sister:Kathleen "Peachie" Pontremoli Of Houston Eight grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and twenty-four great-great-grandchildren.
