MINNE MAYERS

Minnie Mayers, 57 of Mertzon went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at an area hospital. Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Saturday February 7, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Mertzon with Pastor Steve Fox, officiating. Minnie was born in San Angelo, TX., to Burnie and Rosie Cates Potts on May 22, 1951. She married Thomas Mayers in Aledo, Texas on December 31, 1980. Minnie was a homemaker. Minnie loved butterflies, playing golf and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mamie Cook and a brother, Calvin Potts. Minnie is survived by her husband, Thomas Mayers; her son, Glenn Blackburn and wife, Kathleen; daughter, Michelle Thames and her husband, Lenard Jr., all of Mertzon; daughter, Paula Walker and her husband, Gordon of Sanger, TX.; Grandchildren, Calvin Thames, Justin Thames, Tyler Thames, Amber Blackburn, Jonathan Noel, all of Mertzon; Bradley Stevens, Cody Morris, both of Sanger, TX., and Jessica Bishop and Justin Noel both of Three Rivers, MI.; Great grandchildren are Alexia (Babygirl) Thames of Mertzon, Calvin (CJ) Thames Jr. of Big Lake, TX., Morgan Noel and Kami Bishop, both of Three Rivers, MI.; Sisters, Lena Binyon of San Angelo, Mary Rutledge and husband, David of Big Spring, Bernice Baker of Murchison, TX.; Brothers, Bearney Potts and wife, Denica of Weatherford, George Potts of Corpus Christi, Jessie Potts and wife, Shelann of Poolville, TX., and Billy Potts and wife, Earlene of Willis, TX. The family wishes to give thanks to all the Doctors and medical staff involved in her care and support and those who have been supportive to her and the family; everyone that has contributed funds for her medical care with a special thank you to Tom and Ester Thorp and Tom and Liz Mase, the Regional Cancer Treatment Center and Meals for the Elderly in Mertzon and Carolyn Miller for her experienced emotional support.
