Mona Grace Brown

Mona Grace Brown, 63, of San Angelo passed away on Tuesday November 15, 2011 at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 18, 2011 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, officiated by Dr. George Cooper. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Mona was born on January 1, 1948 to Thomas Monroe and Monette (Purviance) Brown in San Angelo. She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1965 and attended college at Angelo State. She spent many years in the childcare profession and was recently a fabric care technician working with Charlotte Sims, a very good friend. Mona was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Grace Hicks and George Purviance, grandparents Charles and Maggie Brown, and most recently her Aunt Valda Gibbs. Survivors include her daughter, BranDe Merriman of LaVernia; son, Thomas Brawley; sister, Debbie and husband Fred Edwards; granddaughter, Star and husband Rory Burlew; a "special cousin", Marsha Hamlin, and a Very Special 111 Friend all of San Angelo; and large, loving, extended family. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her honor to a charity she supported, "Kids Eat" in care of Saint Therese, 11774 Beaumont, Carlsbad, TX 76934, (325)-465-8062, or your favorite children's charity. She was and always will be the "Hall Monitor" of the family that made for long lasting laughter at the reunions and the ensuing years. We will miss you!!
