Nellie McHorse Bell, 92 of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Monday July 29, 2013 at a local care center. Viewing will be 10:00am to 8:00pm with family present to receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday July 31, 2013 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11:00am Thursday August 1, 2013 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bobby Roger of Calvary Baptist Church, and George Ray McHorse, co-officiating. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Nellie Elizabeth McHorse was born in Carpenter's Bluff, Grayson Co., Texas to Curen Timothy (C.T.) and Mary (Mollie) Geneva (Rogers) McHorse. She was a pastry cook at Baptist Memorials Center for many years. The great granddaughter of John W. McHorse, veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto, early Texas settler and preacher; Mother was a true steel magnolia with a soft sweet voice, a backbone of steel and an iron will. Like so many others of her family, who proudly served in uniforms, Mother wore hers with pride. Whether fighting for freedom, enforcing the law, nursing, meeting our spiritual needs or like Mother, feeding our bodies with good food, this family is one of service and giving. The torch is now passed to those left to honor her memory. Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters and grandsons. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Gertrude Bernice Garvin, Annie Fae McHorse, brothers; Robert Alier, Curnel Adrian, Marian McKnight, Henry Dee and Ottis Lee McHorse, sisters-in-law, Velma, Clara, Vera, Mary, Zula, Susie, Inez and Joan McHorse, brother in law; Bill Sauer. Survivors include her daughter; Ann Bell Estes and son; James C. Bell, daughter in law, Susan all of San Angelo, son in law; James F. (Buddy) Estes of Brady, a brother; Martin Omra (Slim) McHorse of Menard, a sister; Addie Mae (Mazie) Sauer of Spicewood, TX., grandchildren; Caren Estes Mowrey, Bobby J. Bell, Donald Zane Estes, Donna Estes Ziriax and husband, Bobby, Damon W. Bell all of San Angelo and Rachael Bell Lewis of Ohio., great grandchildren; Ashley Mowrey, Michaela Mowrey, Austin Bell, Tristan Bell, Easton Bell, MacKenzie Estes and Elizabeth Ziriax, all of San Angelo, Dakota Williams of Killeen and a great-great granddaughter; Piper Jayde Mowrey In Lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be given to Meals for the Elderly 310 E.
