Nelson B. McGee

Nelson B. McGee, 81, of San Angelo passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at his residence. Viewing will start at 8:00 am on Friday, February 24, 2012 with family present from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home Chapel with Donald Moon officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm with Full Military Honors at Decker Cemetery in Blackwell. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Nelson was born on April 11, 1930 in Millersview, Texas to John and Catherine (Noble) McGee. He entered the United States Air Force in 1948 in San Antonio and served in the Military Police Unit until he retired in 1974. Upon retiring from the Air Force he then owned and operated Weathersbee Electric Company here in San Angelo and retired in 1998. He had a Bluegrass band called Concho Grass for 30 years. He married Virginia (Jenny) Alexander on September 5, 1950 in Sweetwater and enjoyed 61 wonderful years together. He was a member of the Goodfellow Air Force Base Chapel and a member of the East Angelo Lion's Club for 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Virginia McGee of San Angelo and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the West Texas Boys Ranch or Concho Valley Home for Girls.
