NORA "BECKY" EDWARDS Nora "Becky" Edwards, 78, originally from San Angelo, passed away October 6, 2007 in Pasadena, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor Rocky Alexander of Ira officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Becky was born in Tom Green County to Thomas Owen and Sara Louise Lay on December 9, 1928. She went to school at Lakeview High School. She was married to George H. Edwards on March 17, 1948. A dedicated mother of seven, she continuously worked to serve her family throughout her life, providing secure knowledge, value and love for God, family and nature. She was a long term mental health advocate with a passion in autism awareness. In addition, Mrs. Edwards happily volunteered her time to assist children in the local schools. Although her grace and talents were endless, she was especially gifted in music and song writing where she blessed all she touched with her incredible artistry. We'll never forget the traditions she handed down, the things she stood for. They were her gifts....and our legacy. Becky is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Louise Lay and her brothers, Gene, Milburn, and Alfred Lay and in-laws John and Lizzy Edwards. Becky is survived by her Husband of nearly 60 years, George H. Edwards, her children, Marlu and husband Gary Riemer of Hempstead, Texas, Cyndy and husband Rick Thornton of La Porte, Texas, Tommy Edwards of Brenham, Texas, Twilah and husband Marco Jansen of Alvin, Texas, Kelly Edwards and wife Desireé of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, Eric Edwards and wife Candice of Houston, Texas and Bonny and husband Mark Slaughter of La Porte, Texas, her brothers and sisters, J.H. Lay, Walter and Marie Lay, Jerry and Betty Lay all of San Angelo, Texas, Terry Lazicki of Virginia, Janell and husband Harvey Morse of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Betty Compton of Toyah, Texas, in-laws Hubert "Rat" and Ann Edwards, Horace "Took" and Dorothy Edwards of San Angelo, and Donnie and Sherlie Edwards of Midland, Texas. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Matthew Riemer, Rob Thorton, Jonathan Riemer, Christopher Edwards, Hollen Slaughter, Bas Jansen, Cody Little and Clayton Little. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Brenham State School Volunteer Services.
