NORMAN ROYCE WOLFE

Norman Royce "Wolfe", age 85, passed from this life surrounded by his family on the 30th of December 2005 after a brief illness. As per "Wolfe's" wish, he was cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 6, 2006 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. He was a Christian, born on the 26th of February, 1920 in Iowa to Claude and Elda Wolfe. At age 23 he joined the Army and was based at Camp Wolters, Mineral Wells, Texas. There he met his true Love, Edna Forest "Tootsie" Freeman, they married on January 22, 1943, and were together for 42 years, until parted by her death on the 3rd of September, 1985. While fighting for his country, during World War II, he was in the Infantry on the front lines. He was in Austria, when Peace was declared and received several medals including the Bronze Star. He fought those battles over and over throughout his life. He is preceded in death by his sister Wilda Crouch and brother Richard. His surviving siblings are sister Gloria Bowles of IL and brother Claude Wolfe Jr. of IN and many nieces and nephews. Norman is survived by his only child, Diann Wilson and son-in-law Charlie. His pride and joy, his grandchildren: grandson Tony Ray Wilson and his wife Robbie and granddaughter Tena Cheri Wilson and his great grandson "that boy" Chris Rutledge, all of San Angelo. His extended family, grandson Butch Wilson and wife, Debby of IL; granddaughters Gaie Palmer of Gatesville, TX and Rae Denton of Arizona: nine great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Norman tried several occupations before choosing the ranch life. He was foreman on the Blackburn Canyon Creek Ranch. He was one of the "Real Cowboys". His retirement years were spent in San Angelo. He was a volunteer at the Santa Fe Senior Center and enjoyed playing 42 with his many friends there. Norman was the youngest 85 year old you could ever know and quite a character. He always left you with a smile on your face and tap danced in the most inappropriate places. His favorite pass time was playing cards and he loved going to Las Vegas. He could build almost anything and fix everything. He had a beautiful tenor voice and could whistle prettier than any bird you ever heard. He was the best of the best: Daddy, Paw Paw and friend. He touched us all and will be deeply missed forever. So Daddy hug Mama for me and I hope when you went to heaven on your stick horse that you flew with the Angels so you didn't feel like you had walked all the way. Vaya con Dios. We wish to thank "All" of his friends for their caring and concern especially Mike Lauer, the "grandson who adopted him", and to "All" at Vista Care Hospice, most especially Susie Corbin. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Vista Care Hospice, 940 B Arroyo Dr., 76903 and the American Cancer Society, Tom Green Unit, 3228 College Hills Blvd., 76904.
