Odilia Martinez

God opened His arms and whispered her name and Angels carried her home. Odilia Rivas Martinez, lovingly called Odie by friends, and Dodie by family, went to be with our Lord on Monday, November 19, 2012. She was 50 years old. Rosary will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. at Robert Massie Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 A.M., November 21, 2012, at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Monsignor Maurice Voity officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Michael Berthiaume, Raymond Rivas, Diarmid Campbell, Robert John Rivas, Mario Martinez, Chad Conway, Gershom Valencia, and Steven Salinas. Odie was born on March 1, 1962, in San Angelo, Texas to Lino G. Rivas and Odilia Perez. She married her true love, Agustin (Jaime) Martinez, on November 26, 1983 and together they had two children, Brandi Michelle and Jami Nicole. Dodie was devoted to her family and treasured the time she spent with them. Her girls were her pride and joy. Odie touched many lives throughout her 22 year career at the Texas State Employment Agency and the Attorney General's Office. She made many, many close friends, all of which she loved and treated like family. She was constantly baking cakes for coworkers birthday's and was always there to lend a hand or an ear to all who needed her. She had a gentle heart and a beautiful smile. She was "La Reyna" and greatly loved by all who knew her. Odie was preceded in death by her father, Lino G. Rivas and mother-in-law, Estela Martinez. She leaves behind many beloved family members and friends including her mother, Odilia Perez, and numerous brothers and sisters: Rachel Rivas; Marie Aguirre and husband, Trinidad; Robert Rivas and wife, Tina; Richard Rivas and wife, Violet; Rosalinda Tafolla and husband, Wayne; Lino Rivas; Michael Rivas and wife Brenda; all of San Angelo; Alexander Rivas and wife Jesica, of Houston, TX. Martinez family members; Agustin and wife Susana; Juan Martinez and wife Leticia; Norma Valencia and husband, Eliseo; Nohemi Salinas; Mary Acosta and husband, Gilbert; Dora Elia Morris and husband, Terry; Estela Martinez; Maria Moran and husband Eddie, Jr.; Nancy Garcia and husband Eugenio; Alfredo Martinez; and Raul Martinez. Close friends Michael and Melba Berthiaume and daughter Erin, and Stephanie Dye, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles all of which she loved dearly. Goodbye sweet girl. Where you go, I cannot follow Though my heart wishes to go. Where you go, you go alone But you take my life, my love, my soul Where you go, they wait for you But know that I'm here waiting too. Where you go, there is no pain While here for us tears flow like rain Where you go, you'll watch us still But here only emptiness, nothing can fill Where you go, I cannot follow How I wish you wouldn't go.
