OFELIA R. IBARRA

Ofelia Ibarra, the fiery, stubborn, and most beloved MATRIARCH of a rambunctious and large clan, passed away on the early morning of January 29, 2007. Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Quirino Cornejo officiating. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Ofelia was born on January 31, 1929 in Cuidad Camargo, Mexico to Rogelio and Juana Ramirez. She spent her childhood on a small ranch near the Concho River. There she roamed and played - the lone girl among three brothers. Ofelia migrated to the United States in 1953, with three children and a spouse in tow. She eventually made her way to San Angelo, Texas where she settled and raised her family. Ofelia was a caretaker. She nurtured fifteen children and countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ofelia's quick, sometimes biting humor and plain spoken manner was an asset in a world filled with contradictions and numerous hardships. Through it all, Ofelia persevered. She was the rock, the steady universal of the Ibarra clan and her progeny often recognized their own strengths and weaknesses in her. Ofelia was a tomboy, a mother, a provider, and a humorist. She was preceded in death by parents, eldest son Victor Ibarra, three brothers - Josue Ramirez, Rogelio Ramirez, and Rodolfo Ramirez, and her beloved, Eugenio Romero. She is survived by her nine sons, including from San Angelo - Mario Ibarra and wife, Rosalba; Jose F. Ibarra; Juan F. Ibarra, Jesus Ibarra and wife, Amalia; Rogelio Ibarra, and wife, Minerva; Rodolfo Ibarra and wife, Marisela, Roberto Ibarra; From Dallas, Phillip Ibarra. From Houston, Abran Ibarra and wife, Rowena. She is survived by five daughters - Maria Peschard of Watauga, Texas; Ofelia Perez and husband, Jimmy of Granbury, Texas; Guadalupe Aguirre and husband, Arturo of Brady; Connie Ibarra and Dolores Garcia of San Angelo. She is also survived by forty-seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. The family especially would like to thank the San Angelo Police Department for their courteous, professional and respectful behavior.
