Ollie Joyce Batchler Eaton

Ollie Joyce Batchler Eaton, 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Ollie Joyce was born in Waxahachie, on February 28, 1923, to John Eldridge and Ollie Moyers Batchler. When she was four years old her family moved to San Angelo where Mr. Batchler, who was a banker, was to manage the Commonwealth Finance Corporation. She attended school in San Angelo, graduating from San Angelo High School in 1940. She attended TSWC (Texas State Women's College) in Denton until 1942. Due to WWII (World War II), she returned to San Angelo and worked at Goodfellow Field until 1945. She worked for the Concho Valley Boy Scouts of America (BSA) for a time before returning to college to complete her formal education. She graduated with a BBA from Texas Technological College (Texas Tech) in 1950. During her time in Lubbock she met Deloyce Farson Eaton, and the two of them were married December 8, 1950 in San Angelo. The newlyweds made their home in Lubbock and her husband, "Dee" went into the car business. They lived in Lubbock many years during which time their son, David Eldridge Eaton was born . Due to family business Ollie Joyce began to commute back and forth between Lubbock and San Angelo in late 1970's, and eventually Ollie Joyce, "Dee", and David returned to live in the home she and her family had lived in while she was growing up. Beyond her family, Ollie Joyce's greatest interest and joy was in genealogy and related historical research. It thrilled her to find a new fact, and she was always happy to encourage others who were just beginning their research or to share her own findings with them. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lubbock. She still held memberships in the Tom Green County Historical Society, Tom Green County Historical Commission, Ellis County Genealogical Society, Fort Concho Chapter Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Concho Valley Chapter of UDC, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, East Tennessee Historical Society, and the Germana Foundation of Virginia. Ollie Joyce was preceded in death by her parents John Eldridge and Ollie Moyers Batchler, her husband Deloyce Farson Eaton, her sister Patricia Ann Caroe and her brother-In-law Dr A. Edward Caroe.
