Paula Fernandez Garivay, 93, of San Angelo passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 after a brief illness. Paula was born on December 4, 1915 to Bartolo Fernandez and Juanita Marujo in San Angelo and worked at Community Hospital for 15 years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, music, dancing, and attending mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She deeply loved all of her grandchildren and always had particular place in her heart for each of them. They were always welcomed with love into her home. A rosary will be at 7:00 pm Friday, August 14, 2009 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home Riverside Chapel. Mass will be at 10:00 am Saturday, August 15, 2009 at St. Mary'™s Catholic Church with Father David Herrera officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Ochoa, Arnold Guzman, Noe Flores, Richard Briones, Billy Camarillo, and Edward Perez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Paula'™s great grandchildren. Paula is preceded in death by her husband, Evaristo 'œBuddy'� Garivay; daughter, Berta Flores; grandson, Ruben Briones; and granddaughter, Margo Flores Fuentes. Paula is survived by four daughters, Olga Briones and husband Joe; Eva Perez and husband Erasmo; Rosa Garivay; Dolores Camarillo and husband William; all of San Angelo; one son, Ernest Garivay and wife Penny of Albuquerque, NM; and special brother-in-law, Alfredo Garivay, Sr. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Garivay family wishes to express their warmest regards and appreciation to Dr. Cornelious Chenn, Hospice of Baptist Memorial, Mary Carnes, Laura, Toye, Anita, Leslie, and all the nurses and staff of TCU Division 5 of Baptist Memorial and her caregiver Berta Borrego.
