Pauline "Polly" S. Ellis, 93, of San Angelo passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017. She was born in Atlanta, Texas on December 11, 1923. She attended and was a lifelong Baylor Bear fan, majoring in Home Economics. Her marriage to John W. Ellis on May 23, 1943, lasted 60 years, ending only by his death in 2003. She and "Honey Bunny" enjoyed many wonderful summers at the family cabin, Estivatage, in Ruidoso, New Mexico, entertaining family and friends over the years. Polly was a member of the First Baptist Church in San Angelo, San Angelo Junior League, & an avid golfer. Her artistic endeavors included various types of needle work and sewing. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lessie Bell Pynes Starkey; father, Charles William Starkey, Sr and brother, Charles "Sonny" William Starkey, Jr. She is survived by son Bill, and wife, Cecile Ellis; & 3 daughters, Pollyanna, and husband, Danny Casey; daughter Sally, and husband, Michael Morris, daughter Merrijane, and husband, James Smith; plus 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the devoted and caring staff at Sagecrest Alzheimer's Care Center for their commitment & full time care in recent years. There will be a public viewing on Sunday, August 20th from 1-8 pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Suggested memorials may be given to Baptist Memorial & Meals for the Elderly where Polly volunteered.
