PAULINE TATE

Pauline Tate, 78, was taken into the arms of her Creator on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Friday, February 13, 2009 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Chaplain J.T. Tucker of Vistacare Hospice officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Pinkie Pauline Tate was born the youngest of ten children to Cecil and Martha McLeroy on April 12, 1930. She married Douglas Lawson Tate on July 6, 1948. They spent 60 years celebrating their love for each other. Pauline will always be remembered for her love of entertaining and game playing. Over the years, she hosted many "get togethers" in her home for her card buddies. As family, we all knew, not to disturb her on Thursday afternoons- that was the day her good friends, Darrel and Trudy Murray and Ed and Gaye Trotter, were over for cards. Other days, we would find Jack and Amalie Moore there. It is a commonly known fact that while Pauline loved to play cards- she also loved to "change the rules" so she could win the hand. Pauline also loved to join in the activities at the Elks Lodge; she helped plan many dances and gatherings for the Lodge. Pauline always looked the part as well- dressed to the nines. Many friends made at the Elks Lodge were always special to her. Her grandchildren will also remember MawMaw as a person who took us to China Garden to hear the birthday song, and for her good home cooking. She always allowed us to stay up late and have lots of sweets- in fact, she spoiled us rotten. She still was adamant in spoiling even her great grandchildren- they never left without something sweet in their little hands. Her son, Doug "Bubber" Tate, preceded his mother in death. Also preceding her in death are her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Pauline is survived by her husband, D.L. Tate of San Angelo; daughter, Sondra Hall and husband J.D.of Ackerly; daughter Penny Price and husband Steve of San Angelo; and a son, Donald Tate and wife Nancy of Buda. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Chad Brown and wife Natasha of Lubbock; Shawna Boland and husband Billy of Blanchard, Oklahoma; Justin Tate and wife Becca; Crystal King and husband Ryan all of San Angelo; Ryan Perdue of Houston; Amy Perdue and Clay Maxon of Canyon Lake; and Aubrey Tate of Buda. Pauline was also MawMaw to several great-grandchildren: Kelcey Grimes, John and Austin Boland, Kenzie King, Jenna Tate, Chelby Brown, and Braden and Ethan Maxon. One brother and four sisters all of whom will miss her dearly also survive her. Pauline also has many family members and friends that will miss her. Pall Bearers will be her grandsons Chad Brown, Justin Tate, Ryan King, Ryan Perdue, Billy Boland, and Austin Boland. Pauline's humorous antics, her entertaining spirit, and her love for her family will endure in her legacy through her loved ones.
