PETRA DE SANTIAGO MARTINEZ

Petra De Santiago Martinez, 87, of San Angelo, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2005 at her residence. Rosary will be held 7:00 PM, Sunday, July 17, 2005 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, July 18, 2005 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Terry officiating. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery. Petra was born May 13, 1918 in El Roy to Teofilo and Tibursia De Santiago. She married Joe R. Martinez, May 2, 1941 in Lockhart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe R. Martinez; daughter-in-law, Anna Martinez; brother, Delfino Ojeda; and sisters, Sista De Santiago and Cruz De Santiago. Survivors include sons, Leon Martinez and wife, Lupe of Webster, Santiago Martinez and wife, Adela of Fort Worth, Nate Martinez and wife, Felicia, Frank Martinez both of San Angelo; daughters, Leonarda Gonzalez and husband, Arcadio, Cruz Trevino and husband, Mario, Rose Mary Martinez, Cheva Martinez, Josie Trevino and husband, David all of San Angelo; brothers, Angel De Santiago, Pete De Santiago and wife, Patricia, and John De Santiago and wife, Olivia all of Austin; sisters, Maria Verastegui and husband, Frank and Teri Sauceda and husband, Leroy both of Austin; sister-in-law, Selestina Valdez; nieces, Lola De La Cerda, Chela Arias, Vina Esquivel, Paula Youngkin and Linda Rodgers; nephews, Julian Martinez, Celestino Arias and Pete Arias; grandchildren, Lea, Glen, Alex, Jessica, Bonnie, Michelle, Deon, Daryl, Donna, Dominic, Eugene and Jeremiah; two extended grandchildren, Debbie and Patsy; and 19 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Julian Martinez, Lea Martinez, Deon Martinez, Dominic Trevino, Bonnie Grogan and Glen Martinez. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Vistacare for all their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be sent to St. Mary Catholic Church Building Fund.
