Phoebe Amanda Cooper, age 86, of San Angelo passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at her residence. Family visitation will held at Robert Massie Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor Don Ardrey officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Phoebe was born on April 3, 1921 in Brookesmith, TX to Arthur and Alma Wagner Williams. She attended and graduated University of Howard Payne. Phoebe married Connie Leon Cooper on May 30, 1943 in Texarkana, TX. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2005. Phoebe was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday school and was the treasurer along with her husband for over 37 years. She was also the church pianist and organist. Phoebe was very passionate about her missionary work as well, where; she got to spend time with children. She loved being a prayer warrior teaching others the joy in prayer. Phoebe was also a seamstress and a very accomplished cook. Phoebe is survived by her daughter Phyllis Payne and husband, Terry; son, Alan Cooper and wife, Carol; grandsons, Shannon Sloan; Michael Sloan and wife, Shawntae; granddaughter, Kelli Maberry and husband, Lester; grandsons, Brad Cooper; Shaun Payne and wife, April; Charles Payne; Dillan Payne; great-grandchildren, Taylor Sloan, Makayla Sloan, Shaun Payne, Jr., Destiny Payne, Emily Payne all being of San Angelo; brother & sister-in-law, Roy and Carol Cooper of Bonham, TX; brother & sister-in-law J. B. and Martha Cooper of Texarkana, TX; also several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Sheldon Gilley, Jack Rogers, Rocky Robbins, Kevin Johnson, Mark George and Willie Montez. The family would like give a heartfelt thanks to caregivers; Phyllis and Terry Payne, Michael and Shawntea Sloan and Shannon Sloan also all the staff of Hospice of San Angelo. A special thanks to Betty Harper for her weekly cards. Memorials can be made to First Church of Nazarene, 3354 W. Beauregard Ave., San Angelo, TX 76904.
