RANCE BRUNSON

Rance Brunson, 94, of San Angelo passed away at his residence during the late afternoon hours of Saturday, December 6, 2008 with his family by his side. Rance was born in Erath County on February 20, 1914 to Dave and Bessie Creswell Brunson. He grew up in Coke County near the community of Bronte where he met and married the love of his life Lois Hageman on November 12, 1932. Rance worked on several ranches in Reagan and Irion County to include the Linthicum Ranch, McGruder Ranch and the Brooks Ranch where he and Lois raised their daughter, Donna Brunson Daugherty. He later retired from ranch work and began driving a propane delivery truck for Shelton Oil & Gas, where he developed a wonderful and lasting friendship with Francis "Shot" Shelton. Rance moved from the Mertzon community in 2006 to San Angelo in an effort to prepare for his time of need. Rance was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mertzon and a member of the Masonic Lodge 699, A. F. & A. M. located in Mertzon for over 50 years. Rance was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who generously loved his family without question. He was a kind man of true integrity and will be forever missed by his loving family and friends. Rance is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Brunson and survived by his daughter; Donna Brunson Daugherty and husband, Alan (Bill) of San Angelo, his grandchildren, Mark Saunders of Bronte, Laurie Saunders of San Angelo, Heidel Daugherty of Spring; his great-grandchildren, Judd Toeppich and wife, Brandi of Comanche, Bailey Saunders of Bronte, Gus Saunders of Bronte, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Rance had a special love for the following individuals: Cindy Saunders of Bronte, Francis "Shot" Shelton of Mertzon and Angie Leija of San Angelo. Angie was his dedicated and loving caregiver for the last 11 months of his precious life. The family would like to give special appreciation for the devotion, concern and expert attention given to Rance by the San Angelo VistaCare team. Visitation will be at Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo on Monday December 8, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Masonic graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Bronte on Tuesday December 9, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. officiated by Loye Tankersley of Mertzon. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Saunders, Heidel Daugherty, Judd Toeppich, Gus Saunders, Rob Kelly, Kermit Decker and Francis Shelton
