Rhonda Hanley

Rhonda Lynn (Abernathy) Hanley, 71, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents J.L and Lorene Abernathy and her husband John Hanley.

She is survived by her son John Hanley, Jr., and wife Melissa and her granddaughter Kate as well as all of her "grandchildren" in Jimaní, Dominican Republic.

Her professional life focused on child development in a variety of roles including home-daycare, preschool teacher, curriculum development, and childcare center accreditation and supervision.

Upon retiring she and her husband joined their son John and his family on the mission field in Jimaní, Dominican Republic where she expanded her family as she was a grandmother to all of the children in the Three Trees Children's Home.

She is a well-loved member of Grace Church in Lakeland, FL where she was active in the women's ministry that supported her through a cancer diagnosis that required her to return to Lakeland for the past few years.

Memorial Services will be held in both Lakeland, Florida and San Angelo, Texas. In San Angelo visitation at Robert Massie Funeral Home will be on January 2, 2023, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM with graveside service at 3:00 PM at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Grace Church in Lakeland, FL will host a reception for friends and family between 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday January 5, 2023.
