Mr. Hernandez was a loving son, brother, uncle, grandpa and a proud father. He was born to Earnest and Mary Hernandez at Shannon hospital in San Angelo, Texas in 1970. He was a kind and gentle soul with a big heart. His faith in God was strong and he enjoyed attending The Life Church. His parents led the way and were a big inspiration in finding his faith. He was loved and respected by many in his community. He attended Lee Middle School and later graduated from Central High School in 1988. Many summers during his childhood were spend camping and fishing. Richard always preferred to be outdoors, whether he was grilling, fishing at the lake or sitting outside enjoying nature. Many of us who were close to him knew his passion for cooking. We could always count on him for a great meal. Music was also a big part of who he was. Whether country, rock, rap or tejano he loved listening and singing (of course off key) with Siera, Richie and Ryan, but boy did he try! He also loved spending time with his grandchildren Jakoby and Cloe. The Cowboys and Spurs were his favorite sports teams. He always shared a love of sports with his brother Earnest and son in law Josh. Recently he went to a Texas A&M football game with his close friend Paul. Some of his other best friends include Mark, Louie, Joe, Charlie and Donald. He had a 20 plus year career at Goodfellow Airforce Base as a Food and Dining Supervisor. During his time there he leaned many traits and made many close relationships. He recently joined Ethicon, working near his brother Michael. We can honestly say that he cherished his children most of all and would always make time for them. His children meant the world to him and he celebrated every moment with them. Richard taught his family to always keep going and to fight for what you believe in, to never back down and never give up. He set an amazing example of how to love and to show compassion for others. He will be missed.
Richard leaves behind his three children, Siera Hernandez and her partner Joshua Dominguez, Richard Hernandez, Jr., and Ryan Hernandez and their mother, Alma Hernandez; his Parents, Mary Hernandez and Earnest Hernandez, Sr.; his partner, Gracie Cruz; two brothers, Earnest Hernandez, Jr. and Michael Hernandez; and his grandchildren, Chole Hernandez and Jakoby Dominguez.
