He served courageously as a private First Class machine-gunner. After the war he worked as a carpenter and took pride in building his own house. He also worked for the U.S. Postal service for fifteen years as a custodian. Grandpa Richard will always be remembered for his witty character and quick "one-liners". He loved a good joke and enjoyed making people laugh. Anyone who spoke with his was sure to leave laughing. At parties, weddings and even funerals, Grandpa Richard had you laughing. We will miss his gentle voice, his charming smile, his soft blue eyes that melted our hearts, and his sensitive heart that was always willing to love. He was a simple man with a humble spirit, a man of contentment, never desiring riches or fame. He will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived his daughters Martha Becerra and husband, Santos, Emma Lozano, Beatrice Guebara and husband, Bernie all of San Angelo; a son Richard Lopez and wife, Lauren of Austin; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Pedro Lozano Jr., Andy Becerra, Adrian and Fabian Guebara, Jared Rodriguez and Anthony Castillo. The family wishes to thank everyone who has expressed their sympathies, through words of comfort, flowers and food. A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Cedar Manor Nursing Home for their care and concern for our father and grandfather. We also thank Vista Care Hospice for their words of encouragement and service of love.
