Richard Sklenarik, 68, of San Angelo passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 in a local hospital. Family visitation will be 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday September 29, 2011 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Miles United Methodist Church with Pastor Gary Karschner officiating. Burial will follow at Miles Cemetery. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Richard was born on July 29, 1943 in Miles, Texas to Winz and Berttie (King) Sklenarik. He graduated from Miles High School. He married Irene Munoz on May 6, 2003 in San Angelo, Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and worked and retired from TxDot after 33 years. At the time of his death he had been a long time employee of Concho Educators Credit Union, in 2003 he was voted employee of the year. Richard was a graduate of the Citizens Police Academy of San Angelo. He also served on the Miles City Council and was a member of the Rowena VFW and American Legion. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Connie Garcia. Richard is survived by his wife , Irene Sklenarik of San Angelo; daughter, Bridgette Ramon of San Angelo; grandson, Jacob Lopez of San Angelo;brother, Robert Sklenarik and his wife Jeanne of Miles; nephews; Paul Sklenarik and wife, Marla of Miles; Howard Sklenarik of Lubbock; Mark Sklenarik and wife, Vanessa of Miles; sister-in-law, Carolyn Inguanzo and Robert of Fremont, CA; Nellie and Steve McGinley of Sweetwater, TX; and Dora Beasley also of Sweetwater, TX; great niece, Emily Sklenarik of Miles; great nephews, Brian Schwertner and Josh Sklenarik both of Miles.
