Richard G. Schneider

Richard G. Schneider, age 75, passed from this life into eternal life on Saturday, September 18, 2021, in San Angelo, Texas surrounded by family.

Public viewing will be Friday, September 24, 2021, from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo Texas. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 10:00 AM in the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. The service will be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend.

Richard was born on May 16, 1946, in Sandusky, Ohio to William and Bonna Swartz Schneider. Richard graduated from Berlin Heights High School, and he proudly served in the US Air Force from 1964 until 1968. In 1968, Richard met and married the love of his life, M. E. "Sue" Reyes. They married in Norwalk, Ohio on Christmas Eve 1968 at St. Paul Catholic Church and soon started their family.

Richard worked as a telecommunication engineer and, after 33½ years, retired from Verizon. During his retirement years, Richard enjoyed working side-by-side with Sue in the business they built together, "Schneider String Instrument Repair". While Sue focused on instrument repair, Richard tended to the day-to-day operations and bookkeeping. During their countless hours working together, Richard became an expert in re-hairing bows and invented many specialty tools that helped them complete their jobs.

Richard was a multi-faceted man; he loved everything "food": gardening, canning, preparing, and dehydrating. Every season he enjoyed planting a garden and working his land with his tractor. Richard enjoyed tinkering with his computers and was an avid fan of music. He listened to all genres but was particularly fond of classical music performed by each of his children.

He had many loves, but the greatest of all loves was God and his family. He was deeply devoted to Sue, and he treasured his children for their separate gifts and personalities. He took tremendous joy in spending time with his three grandchildren and finding ways to make them laugh and smile. He showed his kindness and joyful spirit each Christmas by wrapping candy canes with dollar bills and passing them out wherever he went.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karen Mustard; and his brother, Tom Schneider.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Sue; his children, Richard Wm Schneider, TSgt USAF (Retired) of San Angelo, Texas; Tara Alston and her husband Aaron of Clarksville, Tennessee; Michael Schneider and his wife Alissa of North Richland Hills, Texas and their three precious children: Clara, Madeleine, and Mikey; his sister, Kathy Wickens, her husband Rich and family of Sandusky, Ohio; his sister-in-law Pat Schneider and family of Vickery, Ohio; and Hoover, the cat. He will be greatly missed.
