RITA RAUTERKUS

Rita Rauterkus, age 85, of San Angelo passed away on Friday, December 1, 2006 at a local nursing home. Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2006 at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with Father Maurice Voity officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Rita was born on October 31, 1921 in Panama, Iowa to John and Mary Majerus Wirtz. Rita married Herman Rauterkus on December 30, 1941 in Westphalia, Iowa. Herman preceded Rita in death on September 7, 1998. She worked as a meat processor for Handy Packing Co. until she retired at the age of 65. Rita is survived by a daughter Jolene and husband,Bill Loftus of Ft. Worth, TX; son James and wife, Marilyn Rauterkus of San Angelo, son Jerry Rauterkus of Christoval, TX; daughter Janet and husband, Bill Norman of San Angelo, sisters; Ann Schmeding and Donna Nielson; five grandchildren; Mark, Melissa and Matthew Rauterkus, Patricia Loftus, Michael and wife, Trish Loftus; two great-grandchildren Sarah and Benjamin Loftus; special niece Marlene Sylissian along with other numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mark Rauterkus, Matt Rauterkus, Michael Loftus, Doran Reynolds, Wayne Franke and Dick Robertson. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the West Texas Boys Ranch Foundation, 36 W. Beauregard, San Angelo, TX 76903. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to all the staff, of Regency House, especially those closest to her and a very special friend Dorothy Jones.
