Robert G. "BOSS" Brown, 68 of Big Lake passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 5, 2013 at his residence in Big Lake. Memorial services will be 10:00am Saturday June 8, 2013 at V.F.W. Hall Post 3261 in Big Lake, TX with Bro. Ray Browning, officiating. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bernie Phillips, Dave Carr, Red Collins, Rebel Dowdle, Danny Glen and Jeff Pringle. Robert Grady Brown was born October, 17, 1944 in Santa Monica, California. Robert was raised in San Angelo, Texas at 5301 Fruitland Farms Road. His parents were Edward Grady and Lillie Dale (Thompson) Brown. He had two sisters Mary Elizabeth and Mina Ruth. Robert was raised at Brown's Pool and was an avid swimmer. He worked as a lifeguard each summer. Robert attended Grape Creek and Central High School. After graduation in May of 1963 he worked as a mechanic for A. H. Bradford. Robert turned 19 on October 17, 1963 and two day later he married Barbara Pangburn on October 19, 1963. They lived in San Angelo and Ozona where he worked for General Motors. In March 1965; Robert and Barbara moved to Big Lake where they opened a business with Barbara's parents; Paul and Mary Pangburn. Robert fathered three sons; Larry Dwayne, Paul Edward and Brian Sammuel. The boys were born and raised in Big Lake. They all graduated Reagan Co. High School. Robert was proud of his children. Larry and Brian both served as Marines in Gulf War 1. Paul helped his father in the shop. In 1991, Robert and Barbara gained custody of their 5 year old grandson, Scott. Scott has also been raised in Big Lake and graduated from Reagan Co. High School. Robert was proud of Scott and his abilities as a mechanic. Robert was a quiet man, a man of few words. He loved his family. He was a hard worker and taught his sons how to make a living and do good by others. He spoiled his wife and backed her in anything she tried to do. Robert became ill in May 2013 and after many doctors and treatments; he left this life to rest and have a better life with God. He will be missed by everybody that knew him. Robert is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years; Barbara Pangburn Brown of Big Lake; three sons; Larry Brown and wife, Roxie of San Angelo, Paul Brown and wife, Missy of Big Lake and Brian Brown and wife, Christie of Mounds, OK., 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, sister; Mina Fitting of Midland, his mother-in-law; Mary Pangburn of Brownwood, four nieces and their families.
