Robert Alan "Bob" Carpenter, 78, of San Angelo went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 with his family by his side.

Burial will be in Prairie Hill Cemetery, Limestone County, Texas under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Carpenter was born on September 29, 1945 in Dallas to Roy "Cap" Fox and Lois Cooper Carpenter. He grew up in the Dallas area and graduated from Duncanville High School in 1964.

Bob joined the Air Force. He retired in 1987 as a Master Sergeant after 21 years of service. His last duty station was in San Angelo, Texas where he served at the NCO Academy as an instructor. While in the service Bob received master's degrees in counseling, psychology and business management. He served as a pastor for 7 years in the San Angelo area and Willow, Alaska. Bob joined the Civil Service and served at education centers in Japan, Korea, and at Laughlin Air Force Base.

He received a doctorate in Theology and Doctor of Divinity from Southern Christian University in Alabama. Bob enjoyed his retirement years as a Park Ranger in Carlsbad Caverns, the Grand Canyon and in Denali National Parks.

Bob retired to the San Angelo area and enjoyed being around family and friends. Bob loved nature, climbing the Guadalupe mountains with his dad and sons, loved birdwatching, was a servant of the people and always gave good sound advice to anyone who would listen.

From a young age he learned the joys of motorcycles that turned into a lifelong passion of loving Harley Davidsons. Due to this passion while serving in the Air Force in Lubbock, Texas him and a friend founded The Red Raider Road Riders motorcycle club. He continued riding motorcycles up until his passing.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline Haynes Carpenter; his previous wife and life-long friend, Jamie Bowen Carpenter; his two sons, Chris Carpenter and wife Laurie and their children, Randy and Zachary and Tim Carpenter and wife Peggy, and their children, Toby, Trey, and Jacie and her husband Caleb Russell; his sister, Binnie Carpenter Summers and husband Millard, and their sons, Steve and Mike.
