Robert "Bob" Hegdal, 70, of San Angelo, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008 at his residence. Bob was born September 10, 1938 in Borger, Texas to Martin and Blanche Hegdal. He graduated from Borger High School and married Shirley Mitchell of Shamrock. Bob began his home building career in 1971 in Lubbock, Texas as a partner with his brother Hayden Hegdal. Bob was awarded National Honor of "Spike" in the National Home Builders Association. After retiring in 2004 from the business, Bob moved to San Angelo were he could be closer to all his family and grandchildren. "The fruits of his success were always spent on helping others and not polishing a perception of himself." His passion was being with his children and grandchildren spending many hours attending baseball, basketball, football, and events. Bob loved to play golf. He also enjoyed traveling to the mountains, lakes, and the coast with his family and friends. Trips he enjoyed the most, where to California, Lake Possum Kingdom, and Ruidoso. Whenever Bob could share those travels with his friends, that was when he was the happiest. Even in passing he never wanted to be a burden to anyone, especially those who loved him the most.
