Robert (Bob) Carl King beloved and devoted father and grandfather passed away January 4, 2008, after a very long battle with emphysema. At his request there will be no service. Bob was born July 24, 1927, in Easton PA to Edgar H. King and Wilhelmina Fredericka Bitzer King. He was preceded in death June 20, 1979 by his adult son Robert Bruce King and July 22, 2002 by his loving wife of 49 years Margaret (Peggy) Roethel King. In San Angelo, he is survived by his devoted daughter, Bonnie Elizabeth Gabriel; son-in-law, Ronald L. Gabriel; and two grandsons, Brice Robert Gabriel in San Antonio and Carl Robert Gabriel in Lubbock. Also surviving are his sister Ruth E. Werner of Delaware Park, NJ; niece, Marjorie R. Werner Chamberlin of Delaware Water Gap, PA; his sister-in-law, Nancy E. Bogner and nephews, William J. Bogner III and Robert M. Bogner, all of Calhan, CO. Robert was a graduate of Phillipsburg HS Class of 1946. At age 18, after 3 years of high school, he joined the Navy and at 19 returned to pick up required courses before entering Lafayette College where, in 1951, he earned his Mechanical Engineering degree. His 36 year career in advanced aircraft engines was initiated at Curtis Wright Research in NJ, followed by 3 years at Bell Aircraft in Niagra Falls, NY. After 27 years with General Electric in Cincinnati, OH, he retired to live 9 years in El Paso before coming to San Angelo in 1998. He and his wife were members of the Coronado Christian Church in El Paso. His family would like to Thank VistaCare Hospice for the wonderful care he received from Felix, Sherry, Dale and Ann.
