Roel Garza Hernandez

Roel Garza Hernandez, 72, of San Angelo, passed away Saturday September 23, 2017 in a local care center. He was born on November 22, 1944 to Francisco and Maria de los Angeles (Garza) Hernandez in Comales, Tamaulipas. Roel worked as a heavy equipment operator for Reece Albert for 34 years. On April 28, 1964 he married Francisca Puente in Cda Acuna. Roel and his wife Francisca brought their young family to the United States in 1975 in search of their dreams of a better life. Although he faced challenges and opposition to their dreams, they fought with all of their might and courage and overcame each one of those barriers every single time and achieved success. Roel was known by many people of all sorts of life due to his passion for life, entertaining, comradery, sharing his wit and comical spirit that touched and impacted every individual in his family, friends, and strangers he encountered in his journey of life. He enjoyed life at its fullest but worked hard to enjoy the fruits of his labor. He was dedicated to his family and worked long hour days to provide a stable home life for them. Roel loved life and shared his love with family and friends, where he created beautiful, joyful, passionate, playful and irreplaceable moments and memories with his joyful persona, but none more valuable than his memories of his love, Francisca and their sons and daughter they brought to this world. Roel departs this life, but not before leaving a trail of tracks and moments that show his journey in life and leaves a part of him in all of us. He was preceded in death by parents, son, Alejandro Roel Hernandez, and a brother, Reymundo Hernandez. Roel is survived by his loving spouse of 53 year; Francisca Hernandez of San Angelo, son, Juan Manuel and Maria Isabel Hernandez of Roanoke, TX, son, Antonio and Martha Hernandez of Katy, daughter, Myrna Barrera of San Angelo, son, Reymundo and Lucia Hernandez of San Angelo, Grandchildren; Elisa Jazmin Hernandez, Juan Leonardo Hernandez, Roel Valente Hernandez, Michael Anthony Hernandez, Victoria Elena Hernandez, Ariana Francisca Hernandez, Manuel Alejandro Barrera, Salvador Isaias Barrera, Matthew Hunter Hernandez, Natalie Rhea Hernandez, Daniel Levi Hernandez, step grandchildren; Fernando Deanda, III, Zachary Rene Deanda, and Julissa Jenea Deanda, Great-grandchildren, Anthony Aiden Hernandez, Michael Anthony Hernandez, Jr., Giselle Ava Barrera, brother, Jesus and Beatriz Hernandez of Del Rio. Visitation will be 10:00am to 8:00pm with rosary being held at 7:00pm Tuesday September 26, 2017 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00am Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Burial will take place at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
