Rosella Mitchell Kerr, 78, of San Angelo passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2005 in Temple. A wake service, followed by a rosary, will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday, November 18, 2005 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 19, 2005 in Sanderson, TX. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Rosella was born June 21, 1927 in Ozona, to William Carpenter and Ethel Watters Mitchell, Sr. She was reared in a wonderful ranching family in West Texas and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University. A proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She worked in San Angelo for several years with Dr.s "Gus" Eckhart, John Oswalt and "Gabe" Coleman and carried great respect and admiration for all of them all of her life. She married Edward Hudson Kerr, Sr. of Sanderson, Texas on August 4, 1953 where together they managed the Kerr Mercantile Company and a family of five children. She was a loving wife and mother; protective, nurturing and very strong. Her strength was demonstrated in her endurance in raising five loving children, the loss of a beautiful baby boy, and in the last years of her husband's life in which she stayed by his side and cared for him through his final moments. She showed enormous love and affection for all of her children and grandchildren all the years of their lives. Her grandchildren were her greatest enjoyment and pride for he last 30 years. She will always be remembered by her family for a lifelong passion of solitaire, crossword puzzles and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son William Carpenter Kerr who was lifted by the wings of Angels at the age of two years. Survivors are: Two daughters:Rosalie Kerr Johnson of Katy Jeanette Kim Zachary and husband, Wayne of El Paso Three sons:Edward Hudson Kerr II and wife, Maggie of Mertzon Timothy James Kerr and wife, Beth Thomas George Kerr and wife, Amy All of San Angelo Brother:William Carpenter "Billy" Mitchell and wife, Flo, Of Ft. Stockton Ten grandchildren:Michelle and Mendy Johnson Meagan and Jerad Zachary Ward and Banner Kerr Audrey, William, James And Joseph Kerr Special appreciation and affection go to Dr. Stephen Smith of San Angelo, Texas; Dr.s Mark Lawrence, Charles Reiter, Samuel Snyder and Gary Chune and all of the staff of Scott and White in Temple, Texas. Your love and caring gave her hope, a fighting chance, and cradled her gently to the outstretched arms of the Lord. She has renewed life with her loved ones.
