ROY ARLEN HUBBARTT

Roy Arlen Hubbartt, 79, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2009, in a local hospital after a sudden illness. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Randy Heffner officiating. Roy was born on June 11, 1930 in Taylorville, Illinois. He was the only son of John Logan Hubbartt and Dovie (Heath) Hubbartt Blankenship. A veteran of the Korean War, Roy served in the U. S. Air Force, and after more than twenty years of service, retired with the rank of Technical Sergeant and made his home in San Angelo with his family. After military retirement, he attended Angelo State University where he received a B.A. Degree in Psychology while also employed there as a security police officer. On July 3, 1975, he married Barbara Hollway Heffner of San Angelo. Shortly thereafter, he retired from his position at ASU, and in 1980, he and his wife, Barbara, opened and operated The Bait Box at Lake Nasworthy in San Angelo. Their customers were their friends, and there was no fish tale that Roy had not heard. Fishing was his passion, and he was a dedicated member and Treasurer of the Concho Bass Club. Roy was a constant friend to anyone who came to him for any kind of help, but listening to one of his fishing stories was to be expected. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step-daughter, Kim Denise Heffner-Burton. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara; by his three sons: Scott Arlen Hubbartt, and wife, Cynthia of San Angelo; Ronald Earl Hubbartt, and wife Sung Hae of Sacramento, California, and Timothy Ray Hubbartt, and wife, Elizabeth, of North Carolina. Also his step daughter, Sherri Jones, and husband Bill of San Angelo, and step-son Randy Heffner, and wife, Nancy of Dallas, Texas, and 11 grandchildren: Steven, Daniel, and Anna Heffner, Aaron Jones, Erika and Levi Heffner, Grant Hubbartt and wife Tiffany, Derrick Hubbartt, Matthew Gutierrez, Audrey Hubbartt Medley and husband, Joe, and Scott Russell Hubbartt. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses at San Angelo Community Medical Center for their compassionate care. 'œ'¦You will truly be missed, but we know you have gone fishin'™ '¦'
