At home with his family at his side, Roy Melvin Sartain went to be with his heavenly father on February 22, 2014 at the age of 76. Melvin was born in Del Norte, Colorado on September 15, 1937 to Roy Lee and Eunice Ellen Sartain. Melvin graduated from Mertzon High School in 1956. After High School Melvin joined the United States Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force Melvin moved to San Angelo, Texas were he eventually landed a job with Texas International Airways in 1965 which brought him to Austin, Texas in 1966. In 1983 Texas International merged with Continental Airlines were Melvin retired in 2001 with 36 years of service. Melvin has always been a member of the Church of Christ. Melvin is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Erika Elisabeth Sartain, his parents, and son Karl Sartain. In September 2004, Melvin married Juanita Kyle in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Melvin and Juanita spent the next nine years in the Austin area when they eventually moved to San Angelo, Texas in 2012. Melvin is survived by his wife Juanita Sartain of San Angelo; sons David W. Sartain and wife Pam of Leander and Stephen S. Sartain and wife Carrie of Round Rock; daughter Ellen Cathleen Miller of Spring, step-son Dewayne Kyle and wife Amanda of Round Rock, sister Wanda and husband Bill Lloyd of Knickerbocker, brothers Vernon and wife Gayle Sartain of San Angelo and Stanley and wife Donnette Sartain of Midland, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Helen Hewell and Mary Lopez of Odyssey Hospice for all their support and care in his final weeks. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 26th from 1-3pm with funeral services immediately following at 3pm in Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Services entrusted to Robert Massie Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Odyssey Hospice.
