RUFINA LUCIO MENDEZ

Rufina Mendez, 76, of San Angelo, passed away Monday, October 31, 2005 at her residence. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Mr. Ramiro Mendez officiating. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 3, 2005 at the Centro Cristiano Church with Mrs. Diana Hernandez and Pastor Abel Luna officiating. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Rufina was born July 19, 1929, in Cameron County, to Fermin and Doncila Lucio. She married Concepcion R. Mendez on November 23, 1953 in San Angelo. Rufina always worked hard keeping her home with warm meals and surrounded each and every one of her children with an abundance of love. Throughout her life she would often help people by babysitting for them and had a special place in her heart for all those children. Many whom still consider her like a Mother. Rufina never met a stranger. The apple of her eyes were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be genuinely missed and her memory will be cherished forever and never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her son Oscar Mendez Sr. Survivors are: Husband:Concepcion R. Mendez Three sons:Ramiro Mendez and wife, Natalia Barney Mendez and wife, Margaret Concepcion Mendez Jr and wife, Joella Daughters:Diana Hernandez and husband, Lenard Alma Dela Rosa and husband, Robert Armandina Sosa and husband, Richard Amelia Talamantez and husband, David All of San Angelo Amalia Flanary and husband, Sean Of Twentynine Palms, CA Three sisters:Maria Flores of Idalou, TX Eunice Zapata of Petersburg, TX Dolly Ramirez of Ft. Worth, TX Brothers:Fermin Lucio Jr. Jose Lucio Frank Lucio Sr. Antonio Lucio All of San Angelo Nineteen grandchildren: Special grandson Oscar Mendez Jr of San Angelo Three great-grandchildren Nephews and nieces whom she considered as her own: Mary Ellen Lopez and Samuel Mendez both of Catarina TX, Fernando Mendez and wife, Nellie of San Angelo. Pallbearers will be her nephews: Adam Lucio, Israel Lucio and Toby Hernandez all of San Angelo; Manuel Gutierrez of Tampa, FL, Fidel Flores of Idalou, TX and Louis Ramirez of Ft. Worth. The family would like to give a special thanks to all the nurses at Shannon 4th floor and the Dialysis Center who so patiently cared for our mother.
