Sam Rodger Cowen

Sam Rodger Cowen, 76, of Rankin passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Rankin Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Cowen was born on September 23, 1946 in Mc Camey to Willard and Garan Ann Cowen. Sam graduated from Cloudcroft High School in New Mexico. He joined the U. S. Army, after high school, and served two combat tours in Vietnam. He was also a member of the U. S. Army Reserves and was honorably discharged. Sam worked for numerous oil field companies in West Texas throughout his career. He always wanted to be a mechanic and was good at taking cars apart but couldn't ever figure out how to put them back together.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sandra Kay Dawson; and two brothers, Kenneth J. Cowen and Charles Ross Cowen.

He is survived by three daughters, Sammie Michelle, Kay Ellen, and Jimma; a son, Garan James; and two brothers, John Robert and Sherrod Wayne.
