Savas R. "Tavo" Soto, Jr., 77, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at his home surrounded by family.
Public Viewing will be from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 24, 2022, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Joey Falona, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mr. Soto was born November 28, 1944 in Eden to Savas and Francisca Rodriguez Soto. He has been a lifelong San Angelo area resident. Tavo married Maria Elena Villarreal on February 14, 1964 in San Angelo. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Tavo worked for Santiago Uriegas, Roberto Morales, and Raul Rodriguez as a sheep shearer for many years. Tavo was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorn fans. Tavo loved watching old western movies. He loved taking pictures, fishing, camping, playing checkers, card games, and dominos, never letting the grandchildren win.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Elena of the home; three daughters, Amanda Soto of Austin, Kathy Soto of Portland, Oregon, and Linda Mata and husband Mike of San Angelo; two sons, LeRoy Soto, and Gustavo Soto and fiancé Monica Martinez all of San Angelo; a brother, Severo Soto and wife Beatrice of San Angelo; six grandchildren, Kimberly Gutierrez and husband Anton, Mariah Soto, Leeroy Soto, Hailee Mata, Letycia Soto, and Xander Soto-Millard; and six great grandchildren, Maya, Levi, Paisley, Nolan, Aziel, and Noriah. Tavo was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Savas R. Soto, III; and three sisters, Clara Toll, Lupe Cisneros, and Amelia Lozano.
The family would like to thank St. Gabriel's Hospice Care and his nurse Debbie for the love and care given through this difficult time.
Tavo's pallbearers will be Xander Soto-Millard, Michael Mata, Severo Soto, Jr., Anton Gutierrez, Anthony Samango, and Mose Rodriguez.
