Simon Briseño Sr., 84, of San Angelo passed away Thursday, January 11, 2004 in a local nursing home. Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM, Sunday, January 14, 2007 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 15, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father David Herrera officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Simon was born February 18, 1922 in Seguin, Texas to Basilio and Francis Briseño. Simon served in the US Army as a Private First Class from October 23, 1942 to November 7, 1945 as a Machine Gunner with the Combat Infantry CO K 259th Infantry. He served in World War II in Rhineland Central Europe receiving the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, three Overseas Bars, one Service Stripe and the Victory Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents Basilio and Francis Briseño; wife Elvira Briseño. He is survived by his three daughters Evelina Asebedo and husband Candy; Yolanda Guerrero and husband Luis Sr. both of San Angelo; Sylvia Ramirez and husband David of Dallas; four sons Simon Briseño Jr, Basilio Briseño Sr., Armando Briseño Sr. and wife, Blanca all of San Angelo and Daniel Briseño and wife, Cheryl of Arlington; sister, Delfina Hernandez of Seguin; brother, Santiago Hernandez, Sr.; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family would like to thank the staff of Legend Oaks and Vista Care Hospice for all the loving care given to Mr. Briseño.
