Simon R. Olivas, 92, of San Angelo passed March 26, 2008 at his residence. A Rosary will be held 7:00 pm Friday March 28, 2008 at Robert Massie Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday March 29, 2008 at Fairview Cemetery in Bronte with J. T. Tucker, chaplain of Vista Care Hospice, officiating. Simon was born February 18, 1916 in Shafter, Texas to Juan and Canuta Olivas. He worked doing concrete work in the construction trades. He married Carlotta Reyes on May 24, 1941 in Bronte, Texas and they shared 56 wonderful years together. Simon served his country in World War II in the U. S. Army. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carlotta who passed away October 21, 1996; six brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren; Erica Olivas and Reagan Olivas. He is survived by three sons; Rudolpho "Rudy' Olivas and wife, Josephine of San Angelo, Reyes Olivas and wife, Irene of Dallas and Raul "Tony" Olivas of San Antonio, three brothers; Henry Olivas and wife, Marcella of Austin, Jimmy Olivas and wife, Viola of Albuquerque New Mexico and Robert Olivas and wife, Tilley of Albuquerque New Mexico, two sisters; Julia Stiffel and husband, Sam of Albuquerque New Mexico, Francis Gutierrez of Albuquerque New Mexico, four grandchildren, Lisa Chaumont and husband, Jim of San Angelo, James Olivas, Leslie Olivas and William Olivas and one great-granddaughter, Kierstyn Olivas all of Dallas.
