Dad was born Nov. 15th, 1914 in Rossville, Atascosa County Texas, to Lawrence Langston & Lenora Ross Langston. He was a direct descendent of Jose Antonio Navarro, who was crucial to the Independence of Texas. Ross attended Somerset High School where he was a star football player. He later explored many employment opportunities but finally settled in the oil business, first as refinery dock supervisor and later in sales. On Dec. 24th, 1940 he married Rose Marie Belto. In 1943, his employment was interrupted by WWII. He enlisted and served in the distinguished 10th Mountain Division as a cannoneer. His comrades referred fondly to him as "the old man". He fought in Italy in the historical "Battle of Mt. Belvedere". Ross was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie & his special friend, Jane Patton of San Antonio. He is survived by his son, Stephen Douglas Langston and his wife, Ellen of San Angelo; his daughter Patricia Eileen Even and husband Harold (Buzz) Even Jr. of San Antonio; His six grandchildren, Matthew Langston, Joanna Langston, Melissa Trejo, Bridgette Hanson, Theresa Rose Even and "Trey" Even and ten great-grand children. "Pops" will be missed for his kindness, gentleness, sense of humor and joyful attitude toward life. He survived drought, the Depression, the War and to the end never complained. He's now enjoying himself on that heavenly golf course where he always looks forward to "hittin' a few". The family would like to thank the staff of Shannon & Community Hospitals & especially those at Legend Oaks Nursing Home for their care of our father.
