Susie Mae Livingston, 80, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 16, 2007 in San Angelo, Texas. Susie was a devout Christian woman without holding harsh judgmental opinions. She was a loving and caring mother, a dedicated wife, a loyal sister and a hardworking church member. Susie was born in San Angelo, Texas, May 25, 1927 to Clarence and Christine Johnson. She learned from an early age that hard work and a true belief in God could help a person survive any manner of hardship. She survived segregation and other forms of discrimination with a great dignity. She graduated salutatorian of the class of 1945. Susie worked at Luby's cafeteria as a pastry chef. She attended Houston Tilison. Susie married Rudolph Livingston, the first African American postal carrier, in San Angelo in 1950. They traveled around the USA, Mexico and Canada. She had one child Angela Livingston in 1969. She served many years as a Sunday school teacher to youth classes and later to Adult classes. She volunteered at nursing homes and the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband Rudolph Livingston; two brothers J.B. Johnson and Clarence Johnson Jr.; two sisters, Myrtle Johnson and Ruth Cooper. Susie Livingston is survived by one daughter, Angela Livingston of San Angelo her boyfriend Paul Soto New York City, New York; one sister Christina Johnson and husband, Willie of San Angelo; two brothers, Walter Johnson of Houston, Texas and Earl Johnson of New York City, New York; brother-in-law, Maxine Livingston of San Angelo; one niece, Nona Adams of Austin, Texas; two nephews, Carl Johnson and wife, Brenda of Huntsville, Alabama and Jackie Stewart and wife, Lavern of Austin, Texas; three cousins the Powell family, Jerry Lee, Leonard, and Lois; seven cousins the Washington family, Gloria Gean, Lucious, Barbara, Eddie Charles, Mary, Inez, and Terry; one cousin Corina Bowman; and a host of other family and friends. Susie was never a woman of monetary wealth, but the riches she leaves to her family and friends are true treasures. Visitation will be held from 8:00 AM-8:00 PM, Monday, October 22, 2007 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon, October 23, 2007 at St. Paul Baptist Church with Dr. Fredd Adams officiating. Internment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Cemetery.
