Theaha McClendon

Pastor Theaha McClendon was born December 22, 1938, The baby child of 13 siblings born to the union of Ethel and Richard Pruitt, all of whom preceded her in death, in the city of East St, Louis, Illinois.

She was the mother of two daughters; Stephanie McClendon Radloff and Delthea Ann McClendon (deceased). She was a proud and loving mother and a strong Christian Teacher and Preacher, as Co-Pastor of Gethsemane she exuded strong and convincing biblical principles and practices, Her Christian experience dating back several decades Inade a strong impression upon the hearers and helpers in the Kingdom of God. Theaha was a strong spiritual leader until her health began to fail nearly 3 years ago, She fought a good fight with kidney failure but God won in the end, His will was eagerly accepted by Theaha's dominant Christian family. Giving in is a difficult thing to do, so certainly God wins in the end, Theaha was the Director of Christian Education at Power of Change Christian Church in Cahokia, Illinois, Theaha was very instrumental in causing divorcees to reunite and those who were separated and threatening divorce to change their minds and stay together. She was the Director of Head Start for St. Claire County, Illinois, She owned her own home daycare center. She was also a realtor in the state of Illinois, having "Over Million Dollars in Sales" from 1996-1998 for Strano Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Company, Gethsemane "The Garden" M.B.C. will forever miss her and will grieve in her absence, so will the West Texas Baptist District Association where she served as secretary. The city of San Angelo has lost a precious jewel, She will be missed from all the Christian gatherings that she attended, Pastor Theaha McClendon was the first female President of the Ministerial Alliance. She coaxed and mobilized several female ministers and potential female ministers, She was noted for always saying "If you don't know who you are in Christ, the devil will give you an identity" and "if your prayers aren't getting through there must be a dead cat on the line."

Theaha leaves to cherish her memory, loving husband, Moderator William J, McClendon I; she leaves to mourn her passing 3 children, Rev Stephanie McClendon (Stephen) Radioff, Pastor William (Tracy) McClendon 11 and Diana Walden. 6 Grandchildren, Te'Jawn (Tomika) Crowder; Diamond, Brandysa, TreNellsa, William McClendon; DeShawn L, Walden. 2 great-grandchildren Te'Jawn Jr, and TayVeon Crowder and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
