Timotea M. Varela Torres, 81 of San Angelo passed away Tuesday January 19, 2010 at Park Plaza Nursing Center. Quick to laughter and compassion, her youthful smile is the legacy her family now carries with grateful and heavy hearts. Timotea was born August 22, 1928 in San Elizario, Tx. To Epifanio and Petra (Rivera) Martinez. She married Pedro T. Varela in El Paso, TX. On July 1, 1946 and they shared 63 wonderful years together raising a family with perpetual stacks of tortillas and unending love. Survivors are her husband, Pedro of San Angelo; her cherished children; Adelina Castro and husband, Herman of Amarillo; George Varela and wife, Mary of San Angelo; Arthur Varela and wife, Julie of Lubbock; Bertha Villa and husband, Albert of San Angelo; Robert Torres and wife Maxine of El Paso; Albert Varela and wife, Kay of Grand Prairie; Stella Varela of Amarillo and Jolene Varela of San Angelo. Other survivors include 21 Grandchildren and 27 Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and a brother, one daughter and one son. A Rosary will be at the Robert Massie Funeral Home Riverside Chapel 7:00 PM Friday January 22, 2010. Mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday January 23, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Rodney White, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.
