Victor Lucas Monkewicz, 71, of San Angelo, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at his residence here in San Angelo from natural causes. A Memorial Service at Holy Angels Catholic Church and internment in Albuquerque, New Mexico will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Victor was born on February 1, 1943 to Anthony and Barbara (Moore) Monkewicz in Albuquerque, New Mexico and served in The United States Army Reserves. He worked as a systems analyst at a financial institution before he could no longer continue. Victor had been disabled since 1970 but stayed constantly busy around town with dinning out, enjoying sporting events, movies, clubs and his Church. He moved to San Angelo in the mid-eighties to be closer to his mother and family. Victor was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and a devoted member of the Lions Club. Victor was an inspiration to all those with whom he came in contact. He impressed us all with his positive attitude, faith, joyful spirit and sense of humor. He will be sorely missed! Victor was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and two brothers. Survivors include his long-term caregiver of 32 years, Grace Ponce. Brothers; Terrence and Thomas. Nieces; Heather, Sara, Deborah and Pamela. Nephews; Matthew, Stephen, Martin, and Peter. From Grace: To the most wonderful man , we love you Victor Lucas Monkewicz.
