Wanda Knaust Murphy, of San Angelo, left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, 28 January, following a lengthy and courageous fight with cancer. Rosary service will held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Angels Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at a later date at the Holy Angels Columbarium. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Wanda was preceeded in death by her mother Bessie Mae Knaust in 1956, and her father Leo Knaust in 1995. Wanda met the love of her life in 1994, when she enrolled in Square Dance classes and met William Murphy. They were married on the 16th of November 1996. Wanda is survived by her husband Bill of San Angelo, her daughter Marilyn K. Nelson of Charlotte, NC; sons Camaron, Craig and Ron Nelson of Ft Wayne ID; stepson Bill and Amy Murphy of Wylie TX; and stepdaughter Susan and Carlin Friar of Boerne TX. She is survived by her brothers, Robert Knaust and his wife Betty Lou of Normandy, MO, and Wayne Knaust and his wife Betty Jean, of Lake St Louis, MO. Wanda is also survived by her grandson Justin Michael of Charlotte NC; grandsons Joshua and Jacob Nelson of Oklahoma City OK; granddaughters Brooke and Gwendolyn Murphy of Wylie TX; and grandtriplets Chloe, Blake and Grant Friar of Boerne TX.. Wanda'™s professional experience included Central Soya Company, Inc., a leading international agribusiness, as an administrative assistant; Command Technologies Inc, at Goodfellow AFB as an illustrator for military training materials; and as a Secretary for Legacy Health Plan-Shannon Memorial Hospital Group. Wanda was a doting Grandmother, a loving Mom, a devoted wife, an accomplished gardener, a talented seamstress, and an avid knitter and crocheter. Following the miraculous birth of her triplet grandchildren, Wanda devoted her talents to sewing and crocheting preemie infant clothing for Threads of Love, a non-denominational sewing ministry meeting the needs of tiny premature infants, and of newborns that die due to stillbirth, miscarriage or infant death. Her heart touched many, and her talented fingers brought warmth and love to hundreds of premature infants through her ceaseless handmade donations to the two local neonatal hospital wards. Wanda's family extends special thanks to her medical team, including Dr Warren Conway, Dr Robert Prieto, and Dr Fazlur Rahman, and their talented and caring staffs, who supported Wanda in her valiant 6 year battle with cancer. And most recently, special thanks are due the wonderful staff of VistaCare Hospice, and particularly Nurse Kathy Osborn, for their compassionate support of both Wanda and her family. The Mass of Christian Burial, and later inurnment will be at Holy Angels Catholic Church, and Funeral arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.
