Wilma Katherine Barrentine, age 93, passed away on September 8, 2010, at Baptist Memorials Center in San Angelo, Texas. Wilma was born August 25, 1917, in Duncan, Oklahoma, as the youngest daughter of Benjamin O. Fair and Myrta I. Fair. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys Whitaker of Seminole, Texas; Alleene Fearnow of Duncan, Oklahoma; Pauline Wharton of Fort Worth, Texas; and a brother, Grady Fair of Houston, Texas. She is also preceded in death by niece Jeanne Whitaker, also of San Angelo, Texas. Wilma is survived by one nephew, Michael Wharton of Arlington, Texas; and nieces Paula Twilley of Arlington, Texas; Norma Eaves of Keller, Texas, and Janna Bartosh of Fort Worth, Texas. Wilma is also survived by 8 great-nieces and great-nephews. Wilma married James (Jim) Robert Barrentine of Lexington, Mississippi, on June 15, 1946. They were married until the time of his death in February, 1994. After his retirement from military service, Wilma and Jim were associated with the Southern Baptist Mission Corps for the next 10 years ministering in Texas, Oklahoma, Washington, Canada and Senegal, West Africa. Wilma became a resident of San Angelo, Texas, in 1993 and was a loyal member of First Baptist Church, San Angelo where she taught Sunday school until a short time before her death. Beginning at the age of 14 in the local Baptist church in Little Beaver, Oklahoma, Wilma was a Sunday school teacher for almost 80 years. A family visitation will be between the hours of 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Catering will be available for family and friends throughout the visitation hours. Funeral services will be at 10:00am Monday, September 13, 2010 at First Baptist Church Chapel with; Dr. Mark Bumpus officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Because of Wilma's steadfast and fervent devotion to her Lord, her husband, her extended family and her friends she has touched the hearts and lives of many during her 93 years on this Earth. Her cheerful service, her loving heart, her contagious laughter and her gracious attitude about life will be missed by everyone who knew her.
