Wilson Rainey Joiner went to join his Heavenly Father on Monday, September 29, 2008. Wilson was well known for his hard work as a Building Contractor in San Angelo where he was in business for more than 40 years. Wilson will also be remembered for his wonderful tomato garden which the media in San Angelo highlighted in several articles and newscasts. Many who attended his cookouts will also remember his Lemon Chicken that he always cooked to perfection. Wilson was born in San Angelo, Texas on October 10, 1918 to Jesse Lafayette Joiner and Ida Mae Rainey. He married the love of his life, Joan Marie Ellett, on November 26, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Lloyd and Orlin Joiner; and sisters, Eva McLaughlin, Thelma "Bunch" Parker, and Gene McCullough. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Bob Budewig of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Wilson is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and David Cogdell, of San Angelo, and their children, Bethany, Holland and Will Cogdell; and Vicki and Tom Couch of Austin, and their children, Craig Walker, Charlie Walker, Tracy Morales and Jimmy Walker; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan Walker, Keith Walker, Braden Walker, Tracin Morales and Jonathan Walker. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Lisa Cardenas for all her help and support during Wilson's illness.
