Wynama Lucille "Carberry" Johnson, 92, of San Angelo died Saturday, August 14, 2004, in San Angelo. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Tingle officiating and Rev. Clinton Eastman assisting. Burial will be at Mullins Cemetery, Veribest Community. Wynama was born in Silver Valley, Coleman County, December 11, 1911 to John Carberry and Mary Neomia "Jones" Carberry. Her mother died in 1915 and she lived with her Grandmother, Mary Jane. She graduated from High School in Moffat where she lived with her father after he was discharged from service in WW I. After graduation she moved to Coleman working as a housekeeper and cook. A year later she came to Veribest to visit an aunt (Una Carberry Johnson) and, like the visitor who came for dinner, never left. She married Jean Sol Johnson, January 15, 1934, who preceded her in death June 15, 1979. She and Jean S. made their home in Veribest until his death. She moved to the Baptist Village and made her home there until her death. Mamaw was known for her fried pies and chocolate cake with white filling which could always be enjoyed in her kitchen. Wynama was active for many years in church activities at Veribest Baptist Church and was host to many visiting Evangelists. In later life she enjoyed the game of 42 (dominoes) with the ladies and making quilts for the grandchildren. Survivors are: Son:Larry Johnson and wife Joy who reside in San Angelo and Cajamarca, Peru Daughter:Claire "Sally" Olsak and husband, LeRoy of San Angelo Grandsons:David Johnson and wife, Cheryl of Arkansas Clark Johnson of New York Mike Moore and wife, Becky of Eldorado Jack Prather and wife, Tosca of Falls Church, Virginia Granddaughters: Lucy Jean Johnson of Cajamarca, Peru Christy Meador and husband Lynn, of Eldorado Phyllis Standerfer of San Angelo Great-grandchildren:Lowell and wife, Katie and Stefan Johnson Of San Angelo Michelle Pape and husband, Antheny Brent Moore and wife, Ashley of Eldorado Stan Meador and wife, Gloria of Eldorado Chris Meador and wife, Katy of Eldorado Erin Meador of Dallas Seven Great-great-grandchildren In addition a host of special cousins and nieces. One particular special cousin, Billy Jack George and husband, Thomas. Pallbearers are Ben Scott, Mike Moore, Gregory Phinney, Jack Prather, David Johnson, Robert Preston. Honorary pallbearers are Thomas George, Ace Phinney, Rainey Southerland, Dewey Parmer, Jr., and Russ Weatherford. If so desired, the family requests Memorials be made to the First Baptist Church- Peru Mission Project.
