Ygnacia Navarro (Navarro) Arteaga

Ygnacia Navarro Arteaga, 78, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2023, in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the Rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylona, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Ygnacia was born August 14, 1944 in San Angelo to Preciliano and Leonor Navarro.

She was a very devoted mother and grandmother who always taught life lessons with tough love. She loved family gatherings and always wanted everyone to have a good time. In her early years she was a CNA and loved caring for her patients.

She is survived by her two sons, Art Arteaga and wife Maria and Daniel Arteaga, both of San Angelo; a daughter, Lisa Arteaga Soto of Andrews; a sister, Dolores N. Veliz of San Angelo; two brothers, Preston F. Navarro, Jr. and Juan F. Navarro both of San Angelo; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Gilbert Arteaga; five sisters; Elvira N. Garcia, Catarina N. Ortiz, Alvina N. Melendez, Alice N. Calderon, Carmen N. Perez; a brother, Miguel F. Navarro; and two grandsons, Gilbert Arteaga, Jr. and Abraham P. Soto.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregiver, Kellie Jones for taking such good care of Ygnacia. Also a big thanks to Dr. Bozyan and the staff at Shannon on 4 south, especially Manuela, Gentiva Hospice and Robert Massie Funeral Home.
