Ysmael Velarde Sr.

Ysmael Velarde Sr., 77 of San Angelo, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015 in a local care center. Rosary will be 7 PM Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylona officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Services are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Ysmael was born August 2, 1938, in Midland, to Elias and Rosa Quitela Velarde. He worked for San Angelo ISD for many years before retiring. Ysmael loved sports, especially his Cowboys and Yankee's. He was preceded in death by: his parents, sister Olivia Diaz, and brother Arnold Velarde. Ysmael is survived by: sons Ysmael Velarde and wife Mary and Kenny Velarde all of San Angelo, daughters Linda Sanchez of Pleasanton and Dora Hinojos and husband Eddie of Odessa, brother Elias Velarde Jr. and wife Olivia, of Midland, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Pallbearers will be Anthony Velarde, Billy Mendoza, George Holguin, Eddie Hinojos, Mario Segura, and Servando Tavarez. Ysmael will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
