Hilton Peel, Jr.

Hilton Peel, Jr., 89, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor Mike Dorman, associate pastor of Immanual Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Peel was born November 10, 1934 in San Saba to Ruby Lee Wolf and Hilton Peel, Sr. and was better known by family and friends as "Sonny" or "Uncle Son". Hilton married the love of his life Deeanna Payne on May 8, 1965 in San Angelo. He was a Union Iron Worker, working for many years before retiring in 1987. Hilton was a natural outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and boxing. Hilton enjoyed watching racing, wrestling, and boxing on TV. His real joy was being with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Deeanna; four children, Retta Henshaw, Ricky Peel, Laura Rowoldt, and Ruby Duffy; eight grandchildren, Joey Owens, Nick Owens, Clarissa Peel, Dustin Duffy, Chelsey Vasquez, Briana Duffy, Josh Rowoldt, and Brian Duffy; and 14 great grandchildren. Hilton was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Margie Barnes, and Lucy Keith; and four brothers, Wayne Peel, Jessie Peel, Don Peel, and Jerry Peel.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Robert Massie Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
