Richard Rodriguez Ybarra, 71, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, in Big Spring.

Graveside service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Sheffield Cemetery. Military Funeral Rites will be by the US Marine Corp. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Ybarra was born April 3, 1950 in Sheffield. Richard enlisted into the US Marine Corp. in 1967 serving in Vietnam. Richard started his tour in Vietnam on his 18th birthday where he served for another year and 7 months. Richard left the Marine Corp in 1973 receiving in his career the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and Rifle Marksman Badge. Richard was a resident of San Angelo since 2015 moving from Sheffield. He worked in the oilfield and construction. Richard grew up Catholic.

Survivors include his two brothers, Armando Ybarra of Ozona, and Manuel Ybarra of Iraan; three sisters, Thelma Calzada and husband Alfredo, Sr. of Sanderson, Delia Hernandez and husband Juan, Sr. of Ozona, and Irma Ybarra of Sheffield; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Teresa Ybarra; six sisters, Julia Palmer, Cruz Rodriguez, Antonia Ybarra, Esperanza Flores, Diana Anguiano, and Alicia Burton; six brothers, Lionel Ybarra, David Ybarra, Antonio Ybarra, Raymundo Velasquez, Robert Ybarra, and Daniel Ybarra.
